Make a Face with Laurie Landree

Learn to create a fat quarter-size, artistic, improvisational-style portrait wall hanging using Laurie Landree's pattern and a raw edged fused applique technique. Quilting and finishing will be completed after class. We will review lots of quilt samples and ideas to embellish our project. Be free-spirited and have fun!

∙Background Fabric-1 fat quarter in solid, tone on tone or small-scale print. Large scale prints are too busy
but medium scales prints are a fun risk!!
∙1 yd. 17" wide Pellon Wonder Under fusible web
∙Mechanical pencil
∙Fabric shears
∙Optional Teflon applique pressing sheet
∙Optional Notebook and pen
The project will be fusing the applique hair, facial features
and garment to the fat quarter background. The quilt will
be completed after class and ideas to quilt and embellish
project will be shared with a variety of samples as
inspiration!

Instructor Bio:
Laurie is an award-winning quilter, quilt instructor and lecturer, hair dresser and quilt pattern designer. Her specialty is portrait quilts of fashion-forward women of diverse cultures, historical hair and fashion, and fantasy motifs. Laurie's award-winning quilts have been displayed at regional and national juried quilt shows, in magazines and books, and she has been featured on "Quilting Arts TV" and "Treasured Quilts of Wisconsin, both on PBS.
